Landriault Snack Bar

Our second stop on my sister Marci and my "Let's Taste Alfred's Poutine Excursion" was at a place called Landriault's.

They had a menu sign board exclusively for poutine.

The place had indoor/outdoor seating. Indoor at the ordering counter and when the weather is fine, picnic tables outside.

The poutine? There was a plethora of curds and they were mighty squeeky. The fries weren't very crispy though. The gravy was not too salty and tasted very chicken-y which I loved. We both rated it as a good 4 out of a possible 5 curds.

What about presentation? I would knock off a half point from Landriault's poutine for being served in the dull styrofoam bucket, whereas the poutine from La Kennebec was served on that great red-and-white checked waxed paper on a wicker plate. Much more appealing!

We do have an eco-curd rating now... and we gave La Kennebec an eco curd for the paper and the "real" cutlery, instead of plastic.

Full disclosure: I am a Landriault, and in the distant past I would be related to the Landriault's who started this chip stand... but I'm not sure who owns it now.

The Landriault Chip Stand used to serve their fries and poutine in a red basket with wax paper... they also used to have an awesome milk shake, but I was there a few days ago and that's gone as well. There's a serious lack of good milkshakes in Eastern Ontario.

There are a couple of chip stands near Vankleek Hill you may want to try -- including a brand new one just north of town, next to the grocery store. And, of course, Hawkesbury has about thirty restaurants and chip stands that have poutine...
