Bonhomme Patate

Just over the bridge from Hawkesbury, Ontario is Bonhomme Patate in Grenville, Québec.

It doesn't look like much from the outside...

...but inside it's very nicely decked out.

The menu offers a wide variety of poutine.

Richard and I decided (on the suggestion of the server) to split a large all-dressed poutine.

That means besides curds and gravy, it had bacon and grilled chicken.

I look pretty serious about splitting it, don't I? Check out the ton o' curds!

Richard's waiting to dig in. We both thought it was a very nearly perfect poutine. Very yummy. Richard mentioned the fries getting a bit soggy at the bottom of the bowl, but we just could eat it quickly enough I think. At any rate, we gave it a 4.5 out of a possible 5 curds. Great poutine Bonhomme Patate!

What is Parasol Poutine?

I've had it once and everyone around here seems to know what it is...it's ground beef, onions, green peppers served over the regular poutine. Kind of like a stew-thing with potatoes. A bit much for my liking...

if you're ever in Miramichi, NB the poutine at Ed's Subs is really delicious.

Let's face it. Everything is better with bacon.

Poutine, I never heard of it till today, how interesting. I do love good homemade fries as the one down below noted they had, how interesting about the curds too. Well if I am ever traveling again I will know in advance if I see them on the menu, guess I haven't been up north traveling enough will have to remedy that one of these days.

I am very fond of the Patate guy in the sign... I think you should start a gallery of the Monsieur and Madame (and madamoiselle) Patates you see in the signs!
