On our way to the Muskokas over Thanksgiving weekend, Richard and I stopped in Eganville, Ontario at The Jolly Fryer.

We had great hopes for a good poutine.

The seating area looked inviting and the weather was cool but fine for mid-October.

The poutine arrived, not hot enough. The fries were crispy, the gravy cool and the cheese. Gak! Shredded mozzarella and not curds. It automatically lost a full curd on our rating scale.

Overall, we were both underwhelmed and gave it a 3 out of 5 curds. I liked the fries a lot -- really crispy! Richard was less keen on the whole thing.

And that, I guess, will be the end of our outdoor poutine experiences for 2010. Many of the chip stands all over the countryside have now shut down for the season. See ya in the spring, outdoor poutine!
