Bonhomme Patate

Just over the bridge from Hawkesbury, Ontario is Bonhomme Patate in Grenville, Québec.

It doesn't look like much from the outside...

...but inside it's very nicely decked out.

The menu offers a wide variety of poutine.

Richard and I decided (on the suggestion of the server) to split a large all-dressed poutine.

That means besides curds and gravy, it had bacon and grilled chicken.

I look pretty serious about splitting it, don't I? Check out the ton o' curds!

Richard's waiting to dig in. We both thought it was a very nearly perfect poutine. Very yummy. Richard mentioned the fries getting a bit soggy at the bottom of the bowl, but we just could eat it quickly enough I think. At any rate, we gave it a 4.5 out of a possible 5 curds. Great poutine Bonhomme Patate!

Lavoie's Restaurant

After watching hockey at the Vankleek Hill arena, we walked over to Lavoie's Restaurant in Vankleek Hill, Ontario, just down the road.

The menu has a nice selection of poutine variations.

One of the younger members of our gang picked the regular poutine with St. Albert curds and pronounced it a very good 4 out of 5 curds, the one down factor was "too much gravy." And maybe a second layer of curds would have been good too.

In keeping with healthful New Year's resolutions, a few of us had salads and decided to split a Mexican poutine to give it a try.

It was really good. Kind of spicy, lots of curds, good gravy. Very nice indeed. Likely a 4.5 out of 5. Well done, Lavoie's!
